This season we are inviting back two ensembles who have played for us before. We begin with the wind quintet Zephyr (formerly Zephyr Winds). Their previous concert featured some uncommon items including the Six Bagatelles by György Ligeti which proved highly entertaining. They offer an equally unusual programme this time and, please note, this concert will take place at Christ Church, Carr Road, Nelson. (All others are at St. Peter's, Burnley as usual).
The November concert features cellist Rowena Calvert and pianist Alison Rhind in what looks like a very generous programme.
Yorkshire-born pianist Jill Crossland plays at our February recital; take a look at her website at www.jillcrossland.com/ and be duly impressed! If everything she plays is as good as the Bach '48' which she has recorded this will be a recital not to be missed on any account.
Finally, on April 18th, a return visit by the Navarra String Quartet who played Haydn, Beethoven and Shostakovich for us just two seasons ago. We understand that this season's programme also includes Haydn and Shostakovich and ends with the glorious Ravel quartet.
