Autumn marks the start of our 18th season and we believe we have assembled an attractive range of concerts for you. We launch the season with Haydn, Barber and Beethoven from the Archaeus String Quartet. This is followed in November with an intriguing programme for the unusual combination of classical guitar and piano accordion. Some of you have perhaps heard Craig Ogden before. Here he is partnered with Serbian accordionist Milos Milivojevic. This is our Pendle concert for the season and will take place at the usual Pendle venue of Christ Church, Nelson. It is also our first venture into Sunday afternoon concerts which we hope will attract a larger audience than evening events in the darkest and most miserable months of the year. It seems to work for the Camerata so why not for us? Benjamin Powell's piano recital of music by Beethoven, Janacek, Debussy and Prokofiev is also on a Sunday afternoon, at St. Peter's, Burnley, this time. The season ends with a return visit by that astounding young violinist Martyn Jackson who delighted us in 2010 with his performance of the Franck sonata. This time he is partnered by Alison Rhind who played for us with cellist Rowena Calvert in 2008 and their programme includes Beethoven's Op.47 — the mighty "Kreutzer" sonata.
